Bay Six Studio holds all participants, students, teachers, and organizers to a high standard of behavior.

In the unfortunate event of an incident occurring at Bay Six Studio or involving anyone outside of the space, we aim to handle the situation in the healthiest way possible. That said, "the healthiest way possible" may be different for each person and each situation. We understand these situations aren't always black and white. Recognizing the importance of nuance in these incidents, we don't have a "one size fits all" plan of action.

If you feel you were violated in any way or if there was any sort of incident, whether it be related to safety, consent, or mental/emotional health, we would like to know about it. However the information comes to us is your choice: you may speak with any of the educators/organizers with whom you feel comfortable, or you may have someone you trust to speak with us.

In the event of a formal report being made, Bay Six Studio will ask that you fill out our Bay Six Studio Incident Report.

From there, representatives of Bay Six will contact and gather information from the person with whom the incident concerns. If you wish to remain anonymous, please be clear with what we can discuss with this person and what we cannot. We don't have to identify the particular incident to this person if that risks your physical or psychological safety, but this may affect our ability to act.

If someone has filed a complaint against you- You will be required to meet with Bay Six Studio representatives. Depending on the severity of the complaint, this meeting may need to happen before you can return to events at Bay Six Studio. When we meet, we will want to hear your perspective of what happened.

Accountability and insight is an essential part of this process. If you are forthcoming and looking for ways to grow and help heal any intentional/unintentional hurt or harm you caused, we take this into account. We will also want to know your understanding of what went wrong, what you feel your responsibility is in the incident, what you plan to do in the future in these situations, and how you and those around you will hold yourself accountable.

Bay Six Studio will next take information from both parties and any witnesses who have come forward, create an anonymized report and discuss it with our incident reviewing team. The team will discuss the incident and determine what course of action is appropriate. Bay Six Studio's incident reporting team will respond to reports of misconduct in any of the following ways on a case by case basis.

Results of misconduct include but are not limited to:

• Creating a teachable moment, offering education on appropriate conduct.
• Providing a mediator for a conversation between the impacted individual and the impacting individual.
• Suggestion or requirement to take a pertinent class, if available.
• Written warning not to engage in similar behavior.
• Suspension of membership.
• Termination of membership.
• Restriction from play events with specific restorative action required before resuming attendance.
• Banning of an individual temporarily with an individualized accountability process required to return.
• Banning of an individual permanently.

The Bay Six Studio incident reviewing team will inform Bay Six Studio of their recommendations and Bay Six Studio will inform the impacting individual of the results of the review and the action taken. When appropriate we will also inform the impacted individual of the action taken.

While Bay Six Studio understands that people frequently wish to know exactly what happened, what was concluded and what action we have taken. We do not publicly announce these decisions in accordance with our privacy policy.
